This is a GREAT tool whether a person is using it as a axe around the camp ground ,doing rough carpentry work (building forms,or demo work),or doing some landscaping jobscutting limbs etc.,this is a very versatile tool it will fit on your belt or in the case of hiking etc your back pack you can use it in a one hand mode or really swing it with 2 hands plus its an Estwing they dont get any better than this.Get 2 one for the house ,one to keep inyour SUV,Truck ,Etc.Cheers,J V"Nick" Nichols,DC1,U S Coast Guard,(RET.)

I looked at a lot of Hatchets and smaller axes for my Cabin, all of the others had wooden handles, which are fine, but the Estwwing steel handled campers axe is all steel, the handle will never dry and get loose, the rubber grip won't slip from your hand. The axe head has the same dimensions as some very expensive imports. It also comes with a leather sheath. Besides working very well, splitting kindling and small firewood, it is made in the USA.

I purchased this axe to do any light trimming that may crop up while I'm out at the hunting lease. So far, I've not been disappointed. First, it's the typical quality you'd associate with the Estwing name. It's well balanced, and quite easy to use. When you pick it up, and initially feel the heft of this thing, you get the impression of quality. I'm sure you COULD break it, but I wouldn't want to be around when you did! It's very, very solid. The handle is nice and "grippy", and similar to what you'd see on a Estwing hammer.
The included scabbard is a nice touch, and offers decent protection when not in use.
This is one of those tools that you'll keep finding uses for after you buy it. It's very handy to have, so much so, that I keep mine in my truck's toolbox. I'd have no hesitation recommending this to any outdoorsman. I've found the 16" model perfect for my needs. It seems to be "big enough" to get the job done, while not so big that it's a burden to haul around or keep with you.
